Everyone needs a break from daily life once in a while, especially stay-at-home-moms. I always say this. SAHM moms need to take time to relax and unwind. And the best way to do this is by starting new hobbies that can help us reconnect with ourselves and gain more insight into our passions and interests….and just having some time by ourselves without a baby screaming “MOMMY” every 5 minutes.

Relaxation can be hard to come by, especially for us SAHMs who are busy juggling the many tasks of everyday life. If you find yourself in need of a little extra space and down time, it may be time to consider starting a new hobby. Learning something new is not only a great way to relax and de-stress

Starting a new hobby or keeping up with one is not an option for us…it’s mandatory.

Stretching

I love to stretch at night when everyone is sleeping and I can do it without interruptions. Stretching is great to increase blood flow and improves your daily activities.

Journaling

Journaling is an easy way to get all of your thoughts out onto paper without having to worry about judgement from anyone else. It’s an excellent form of self-expression that can help you work through any emotions or feelings you may have been suppressing lately. Plus, it’s incredibly therapeutic! All you need is a pen and paper (or laptop) and you’re good to go!

Gardening

Gardening is an excellent way to get outdoors while caring for plants and flowers. Whether it’s tending to your garden or starting your own herb box, gardening can provide both physical activity and mental clarity.

DIY Projects

DIY projects don’t require any special skills or materials, just a bit of creativity! From furniture renovation projects to creating jewelry pieces from beads, these activities can help take your mind off of stressful situations while keeping you busy with something fun.

Painting

Expressing yourself through art can be very therapeutic! Even if you have no experience painting before, it’s never too late to start learning this creative skill. Painting is an easy hobby that requires minimal supplies and doesn’t take up much room in your home.

Calligraphy

Calligraphy is something that is booming right now and more and more people are practicing their calligraphy skills. I think this can be a very relaxing hobby to start for SAHMs.

Adult Coloring Books

I started coloring on my iPad Procreate app which helps me relax a lot. If you don’t have an iPad or the app, coloring papers are enough.

Sewing

Sewing is just one of those things that doesn’t need to be called a “hobby” all the time but an actual skill to acquire. We know how many times children tear their clothes or just outgrow them. We aren’t rich 😂

Taking up relaxing hobbies such as yoga, journaling or cooking/baking can be just the thing that stay at home moms need right now – something new and interesting that will help them reconnect with themselves while still giving them time away from their busy lives. So why not give one of these activities a try? You never know what hidden talents or passions you might discover!
